Tra-la-LAAAA! Attention, young author-illustrators! The Junior Librarian Team will be sponsoring a graphic novel contest after spring break, open to all grade levels with entries due May 10th! More details to come, but in case you want to start working on it on April's rainy days, here are some parameters that can get you started:
- no more than 6 pages
- original
- school appropriate
- any artistic medium is okay (marker, ink, paint, pencil)
and
- yes, you may work with a friend!
See Ms. Esme if you need unlined paper. Don't forget: personal narratives and your non-fiction interests also make GREAT subjects for comic books! A few will be chosen for circulation in the library. The Junior Librarian Team can't wait to see what you create...and neither can I!
Update:
The winners have been selected! As judged by our Junior Librarian team, the winners are:
First place, a tie: Saving Trees and The Kung-Fu Dinosaur
Special Manga Award: The Letter
Honorable Mentions: The Book Trailer, Robots and Apple.
Come visit the school library and read these award-winners! Special thanks to 2nd and 3rd grade, your participation was especially excellent; to Ms. Yee and the Stone PTA for their generous support in providing the first place gift certificates; and to Blick Art Supplies for the generous donation that allows for all participants to receive a treat to keep that illustrator ink (and lead) a-flowing! Thanks to everyone who entered, your entries were beautiful, hilarious and daring!
