Happy April Fools' Day from the Library!

No fooling, the library has the best joke, riddle and prank books in our 800 section! Come visit and make your friends laugh!  April is also National Poetry Month, and all poetry books are bonus books all month. To that end, the fifth grade gave great choral poetry performances honoring poet David McCord in library. Great teamwork, kids!

Hot Dog! It's Time for Library

A Stone student demonstrating the appropriate facial expression
to make when someone suggests putting ketchup
on a Chicago-style hot dog

In collaboration with the third grade Chicago history research project, students are exploring the proud tradtion of iconic Chicago cuisine in library.  To that end, the library hosted speaker Mark Reitman, PhD (Professor of Hot Dogs) from Hot Dog University, the famous business school out of Vienna Beef.  Mr. Reitman spoke to the children about the cultural diversity that goes into every bun of a Chicago-style dog.  He also talked about running a food cart in Chicago and gave every child their own vendor hat, gummi dog and hot dog temporary tattoo!  Another proud Chicago and foodie moment here at Stone Academy.

Dress-Like-A-Teacher-Day

Thanks to everyone who participated in Stone Spirit Week's Dress-Like-A-Teacher Day by dressing up like your librarian!  Imitation is the highest form of flattery, thank you!  A few Ms. Esmes even got up to deliver a rousing read-aloud.

Quite the convention! Oh, dear! I hope they are not interviewing for my job.  Stiff competition.

Spring and St. Patrick's in the Library

\
Spring has definitely sprung in the library with clover on the tables, green bagels for library helpers and stories about froggy friends.  Leprechauns love our story times, and you will, too.

Spring tea party, anyone?

Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Oh, the places you'll go when you check out books by a master storyteller here in our wonderful library!  Books by Dr. Seuss will be on display all of March, and your librarian Ms. Esme is happy to help you find more funny books for emergent readers, books with rhythm and rhyme and stories with invented vocabulary that will knock your fox-in-socks off!
