THERE ARE FIRST GRADERS ON HEMLOCK MOUNTAIN!

"There are no bears on Hemlock Moun-tain,
No bears, no bears, no bears at all..."

You might hear first graders chanting this refrain, as we are well into Alice Dalgliesh's classic Newbery honor-winning title, The Bears on Hemlock Mountain, our first chapter book read-together!  Animals, family celebration and a little suspense is what makes this story a perfect primary page-turner, and children are doing a great job of following along in their own copies, increasing their exposure to the text.  A class also laughed and laughed to discover that one of our students could be the sibling of the boy on the book's cover!
